The beta is open to everyone. Choose an Apple silicon Mac or Windows x64 build, with checksums. No invite code, account or email is required.
This is evaluation software. Read the beta terms and privacy notice before continuing.
Before you install: the Mac beta is ad-hoc signed and not notarized by Apple. The Windows beta is unsigned. Your operating system may block a build or display a security warning. Keep system security protections enabled; contact support if you are unsure.

Another way to share models. A new space-inspired look. The same download workflow.
Current build: beta.16. Desktop installers for Apple silicon Mac and Windows x64, available to everyone after reviewing the beta terms. No invite code is needed.
- IPFS collections. Paste or drop a CID/link, preview the files, and choose one device and folder. Transfers remain grouped; completed collections stay in My Models or Torrents.
- Share when you choose. Turn sharing on for a completed IPFS collection and copy its published link. It starts off again after restart. A selected-file collection can have a different CID from its source.
- AEON Orbit, for everyone. Choose the purple/cyan space theme in Settings → Interface. No subscription or Pi is needed to use the theme.
- Device-scoped AEON tools. A compatible connected Raspberry Pi can report its AEON console tools under that device. The browser handles AEON login. The combined Pi image is paused and is not included in this desktop release.
- Security and recovery. Includes restricted device pairing, native action reviews, grouped HF resume, safer file handling, and companion shutdown fixes from the beta.15 review.
- Your privacy choices remain yours. New terms explain IPFS network requests and caches. Diagnostics stay optional and off, without model names, filenames, CIDs or download history.
Already aboard
HuggingFace search and selective downloads, HF + one paired device, torrent/magnet review, grouped model transfers, My Models, Torrents, multiple Mac/DGX companions, inventory search and optional update checks.
IPFS caches use additional space on the state drive, and IPFS bandwidth is separate from torrent limits. Beta.16 does not combine HF, BitTorrent and IPFS blocks into one download. Speeds depend on the available sources, peers, network and storage.
Mac builds are ad-hoc signed without notarization; Windows builds are unsigned. Intel Mac and Windows ARM64 desktop installers are not included. Read the IPFS guide and AEON Orbit walkthrough.
Is FrostByte only for AI models?
No. It is designed with model downloads in mind, but its BitTorrent support also handles ordinary files, archives, configs, and updates. You choose the source and the files.
Do I need a DGX Spark or Frigid?
No. FrostByte downloads directly to your Mac or Windows PC. Mac and DGX companions are optional; guided setup installs them through Devices. Frigid is not required.
How will I connect another Mac or DGX?
Open Devices → Add device. Enter its address and account login, or use an existing SSH connection. Verify its fingerprint, review the detected machine and choose a folder before installing the companion. Your setup password is not saved. A remote Mac needs Remote Login, Python 3 and a logged-in desktop account; it does not need Docker.
Can I download to an external drive?
Yes. Choose a download folder on your Mac or PC, or add a folder on a drive mounted on a connected device. Choose one device and one folder before each download.
Do I have to install the HuggingFace CLI?
No. FrostByte searches and downloads through the HuggingFace API. Public models can be browsed without a token; restricted models may require a HuggingFace account, an access token, and permission from the model publisher.
How do I install on Mac?
Download the Mac DMG, open it, and drag FrostByte into Applications. Quit an older copy before replacing it, then open FrostByte from Applications. The ZIP is an alternative containing the same app.
This beta is ad-hoc signed and has not been notarized by Apple. macOS may block it or require your approval. Review Apple’s guidance and verify the download checksum. Keep system protections enabled and contact support if you are unsure.
How do I install on Windows?
Choose the setup EXE for a per-user installation, or extract the Windows ZIP and run FrostByte.exe from that folder. Setup does not request administrator elevation. The ZIP does not install shortcuts or file/link associations.
This beta is unsigned, so Windows may show a publisher or security warning. Keep system security protections enabled and contact support if you are unsure about a build.
What should I try during the beta?
Start with a small download. Choose a destination, confirm the files appear in My Models or Torrents, restart the app, and check that they remain available. If you use a companion, try its selected storage, device controls and reconnection. Test sharing only with files you have permission to distribute.
Choose Help → Send feedback or Settings → Privacy & Feedback. Describe what happened and review the report before sending. Basic diagnostics and a reply email are optional. Do not include invite codes, tokens, passwords, private keys or sensitive file details. You can also contact support@blackfrostai.com.
Where can I report a bug or request a feature?
Visit FrostByte on GitHub for official download links, the user guide, bug reports, feature requests and setup questions. Star the repository to show your support, follow an issue for updates, or read the public roadmap.
GitHub reports and attachments are public. Keep invite codes, credentials, device addresses and private download details out of them. For private feedback, use Help → Send feedback in the app or contact support. Suspected vulnerabilities have a separate private reporting link in the repository.
Does FrostByte collect what I download?
Optional diagnostic reports exclude what you search for or download, filenames, paths, links and credentials. Reporting is off by default, and accepting the terms does not enable it. If enabled, it sends basic app/platform details and connection-health counters. Manual feedback contains only what you review and choose to send. See the privacy notice for retention and infrastructure metadata handling.
Will it take over my torrent or magnet defaults?
The Windows installer registers FrostByte as an option and preserves existing defaults. Choose it through Windows Default apps or Open with when you want to use it. Sources sent to FrostByte open a review; a transfer starts only after you confirm.
How do I download the public beta?
Visit the download desk, review the beta terms and privacy notice, and continue to the Mac and Windows downloads. No invitation, account or email signup is needed.
Beta.16’s bundled welcome notices still use older private-beta wording. The public-beta access notice authorizes everyone who accepts the current terms. The app remains proprietary, with third-party licenses preserved.
